Congressman Cohen Announces $1.8 Million Grant for Improving Mathematics Instruction at Southwest Tennessee Community College

Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a member of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee, today announced that Southwest Tennessee Community College will receive a grant of $1,859,883 from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to increase student success in community college mathematics through instructional change.

Southwest is one of eight community colleges participating in the five-year project aimed at improving instruction and retention rates.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"A solid foundation in mathematics is critical to some of our most important, cutting edge technologies and jobs. I'm pleased the National Science Foundation has selected Southwest for this important initiative. I'm sure it will pay significant dividends in the future."
